Fans of the 2018 Chinese rom-com drama “Meteor Garden (流星花园)” will surely be familiar with Taiwanese actor Darren Chen (官鸿). The heartthrob actor is on a short break from acting but was recently spotted in our city of Kuala Lumpur!
A XiaoHongShu user recently revealed that they met Darren in Alor Street earlier this week. The user also took a photo with the actor and shared it with the caption, “It’s Huaze Lei (Darren’s character)!”. Darren appeared in a comfortable state as he didn’t seem to have any makeup on. Also spotted in the picture was Malaysian actor Bernard He (森竣), who treated the lucky fan to some roasted chicken wings.
Bernard also shared another photo with Darren through his Instagram account. In the picture, the two actors were posing in front of the Petronas Twin Towers with two other friends. The Malaysian captioned his Instagram Stories post with, “Hi my dear friends”, and included an answer box to allow fans to share their greetings with the Taiwanese star.
Many fans were surprised by the sudden spotting of Darren in Kuala Lumpur, especially since he hasn’t been active on screen or social media as of late. Nevertheless, many thanked the XiaoHongShu user for sharing the photo, saying they were happy to see the actor in great shape. Some also hoped the actor had a great time in Malaysia and said they’ll also visit Alor Street the next time they’re in town.
Darren first gained prominence playing Huaze Lei (花泽类) in the 2018 Chinese drama, “Meteor Garden”, alongside Dylan Wang (王鹤棣) and Shen Yue (沈月). His good looks and tall stature made him an instant hit among female fans. His acting skills also booked him many gigs, including the 2020 drama, “The Sleuth Of The Ming Dynasty”. However, Darren recently took a short break from acting and only occasionally posts on social media.
