Most parents look forward to the joy and blessing of having their own child. As such, it’s always a celebration when a couple that has been wanting a child for ages finally manages to conceive one.
Taiwanese actress Ariel Lin Yi-chen (林依晨) has been trying to conceive a child since her marriage six years ago. It is a known fact that she paused her acting jobs in mid-2018 to try for a child. Recently, she announced that she is pregnant and the child is due next month!
On 29th September, Taiwanese magazine Mirror Media reported that Ariel Lin was pregnant. Later that day, the actress confirmed it with a post on Weibo, titling it as “Yes, I’m pregnant…” According to Ariel, she has received plenty of gifts for the baby and many well-wishes as well as concerns.
“More than 95% of (the maternity essentials and baby products) are second-hand, donated by relatives and friends.” she said. Ariel stated that she will be using cloth diapers for the baby and thanked everyone for sending them. Their efforts would go towards saving natural resources and caring for the earth. “We will save resources together!” she said happily.
Ariel mentioned in her article that she is not sure of the baby’s gender. “Please look forward to it with me and don’t spoil the surprise!” she wrote. However, the actress has made it clear she is not pinning her hopes on a specific gender. “Both boys and girls deserved to be loved,” she said with a smiley face emoji.
Although fans were happy for her, many of them were amazed that they had missed the signs. It was pointed out that during her friend Janet Hsieh (謝怡芬)’s 37-weeks baby party in February, Ariel could be seen wearing stripped baggy clothes and hiding her belly from the camera.
In March, Ariel revealed she had been hired for a new show, however filming would start “next year at the earliest”. She explained it was in case she got pregnant during the period. However, it seems she was already pregnant then and was just preparing for the future.
Her husband Charles Lin has returned to Taiwan to be with her. He was initially working in the United States. Ariel has also mentioned that pregnancy was an “important journey” for her and she will be treating it with caution.
