During Ramadan, many Muslims frequent mosques to fulfil their religious duties, including tarawih prayers. However, all the visits also brought attention to some of the most interesting mosques in the Klang Valley.
TikTok user Ariff Ash has been visiting a different mosque each night during Ramadan and sharing his review of these houses of worship. Recently, he visited the Elmina Gardens Mosque in Shah Alam, which was a suggestion from his followers. However, the TikTok user said he was pleasantly surprised during his visit because he found the mosque more affluent than the other mosques he visited.

In the video he shared, Ariff listed a few of his observations about the Elmina Gardens Mosque. Early into the video, the Malaysian noted how the mosque served lamb and grilled cockles for moreh, a simple meal after tarawih prayers. Ariff also said that he noticed that more than half of the cars at the mosque parking were imports, further hinting at the average wealth class of the visitors.
Ariff also praised the mosque, noting that the place was clean and tidy. His video also included clips of the inside and outside of the mosque to back his claims. The TikTok user also included a voice recording of the mosque’s imam reciting prayers to give netizens a listen. In his captions, he wrote, “It’s nice to see Muslims earning well.”. Many netizens have since reacted to the video, sharing their opinion of the “T20 mosque”.

Some expressed surprise at the mosque offering grilled lamb for moreh, noting that the option is rather lavish than usual. However, some locals said the Elmina township is known to be a more affluent area. On the other hand, many agreed with Ariff’s sentiment, saying they’re happy to see more wealthy Muslims devoted to their religion. Others also said the video motivated them to continue working hard to achieve the same success.
Of course, the true purpose of a mosque is for Muslims to fulfil their religious duties and be closer to God. There’s no reason to categorise a house of worship, but what are your thoughts on this?
