2024 brings a new year and new opportunities and it’s no exception for Star Media Group Berhad (SMG). In fact, they recently announced Mr. Chan Seng Fatt (陈成发) as the group’s new chief executive officer!
Well, there’s no denying that being a chief executive officer of anything is never easy, more so for Star Media Group Berhad. As such, their chosen successor must be able to fill these pretty big shoes. So, here’s a little of what we know about Mr. Chan Seng Fatt.

1. His new position
Today (24th January), it was announced that Mr. Chan (60) has been appointed by the Star Media Group as group chief executive officer, effective 1st March 2024. He will be succeeding Mr. Alex Yeow Wai Siaw following the conclusion of his contract on 29th February.
2. What he’ll be letting go of
On 29th February, in light of his appointment, Mr. Chan will be resigning as an independent non-executive director of Star Media Group, a position he’s held since 11th August 2018. In addition to releasing his position as an independent non-executive director, Mr. Chan will also cease to be the chairman of the audit committee and a member of the nomination committee.
3. A glimpse of his portfolio
Mr. Chan has over 30 years of experience in various aspects, including external and management auditing, financial management, corporate finance, stockbroking and senior-level operation and general management. He is also a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
4. Previous position
Mr. Chan served as the chief executive officer of Tradewinds Plantation Bhd from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, he held several senior positions in various public and private companies. Notably enough, Mr. Chan is also currently a director of Salcon Bhd and Skyworld Development Bhd.

Well, it certainly sounds like Mr. Chan Seng Fatt will be getting busy come March! On our end, we wish him well and hope he’ll be able to step smoothly into his position.
