Before 20th Century Fox even announced the actor who will be taking up the role of Spider-Man in Marvel‘s Cinematic Universe, another question has already plagued fans: “Who will be the director of the movie?”

Drew Goddard was previously rumoured to direct the new “Spider-Man” movie, but a recent report by Deadline named Jonathan Levine, Ted Melfi, Jason Moore, John Francis Daley, Jonathan M. Goldstein, and Jared Hess as the frontrunners to helm the film.

Deadline also reported that a decision will be made by the end of this week.

All of the directors mentioned above have had at least one box-office success. Levine directed “50/50” and “Warm Bodies“, Moore made his directorial debut with “Pitch Perfect“, and Hess was the director of “Nacho Libre”.

Melfi wrote and directed “St. Vincent”, Daley wrote the screenplay for “Horrible Bosses 2“, and Goldstein was the scriptwriter for “Horrible Bosses“.

The untitled “Spider-Man” movie will feature a younger actor to portray a high school student.

Though nothing was confirmed, Spider-Man is speculated to make his first appearance as an Avenger in “Captain America: Civil War“. The web-slinger’s standalone film will hit cinemas on 28th July 2017.

Who do you think will take up the director role? Leave your thoughts in the comments box below.
