What’s not to like about mamak food? It’s cheap, fast, and convenient!
Thanks to an upcoming food app called “Smart Mamak”, Malaysians will soon be able to order their favourite roti canai and mee goreng on their smartphones. How awesome is that?!
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was responsible for developing “Smart Mamak” with the intention of providing mamak food lovers a quicker and more efficient method to take your orders. The app basically serves as a self-service approach for customers to check out the menu of any mamak stores listed in the app.
“This will reduce costs and increase profits for the restaurants. Customers can just pick up their food when they arrive at the restaurant,” said UKM deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) Prof Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman. He also added that this concept will reduce waiting time for the food when customers pre-order.
“Smart Mamak” users can even review and rank the eatery according to a number of criteria, one of which includes hygiene level. The food app hopes to have all 4,000 Malaysia Muslim Restaurant Owners Association (Presma) outlets onboard.
