Small Towns, Big Sound: Malaysia’s East Coast Underground Scene Takes Off With Salam Pantai Timur Tour 2025

Malaysia’s alternative music scene is about to get louder as the Salam Pantai Timur Tour 2025 launches its mission to put East Coast underground bands on the national map.

Organized by Generasi Prima Resources and backed by MyCreative Ventures, Kementerian Komunikasi, and Pawerkord Merch, this groundbreaking tour showcases the raw talent emerging from Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang.

The tour kicked off at Insider Satellite, Ipoh, featuring powerhouse acts like Parkingsong from Machang, Secret Identity from Jerantut, and Pokpang from Tanah Merah, with special guest Dead Mushroom from Kuala Lumpur. More than just concerts, this cultural movement showcases authentic East Coast voices bringing hardcore punk, neo-psychedelic rock, and hip hop sounds from Malaysia’s heartland to the national stage.

The tour continues to Melaka on 4th October 2025 at Mugo X Masterpiece, then wraps up in Shah Alam on 25th October 2025 at RCDBIG Studio. The finale will showcase diverse East Coast sounds from hardcore punk (No Good) to neo-psychedelic rock (Awang Samrow) and Kelantanese hip hop (WARGASWARA), with legendary acts Sekumpulan Orang Gila and Naratu as special guests.

“The Salam Pantai Timur Tour 2025 is proof that great music doesn’t need a big city address,” says a spokesperson from Generasi Prima Resources. “These bands have been building incredible sounds in their hometowns. It’s time the rest of Malaysia heard what the East Coast has been creating.”

With support from government initiatives and the independent music community, this tour represents a significant step toward decentralizing Malaysia’s music scene and giving voice to the rebels, dreamers, and artists who’ve been making waves far from the spotlight.
