After many years of hiatus, King of Comedy Stephen Chow (周星馳) is currently working on another legendary film. And actress Sandra Lim (林雪卉) and Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) have been working hard to get a role!
Just last month, Stephen Chow announced that he was opening auditions for his upcoming film, “Shaolin Women’s Soccer”. Well, it seems he’s been getting a flood of auditions, including ones from TVB actress Sisley Choi and our very own beauty queen, Sandra Lim!
Earlier this year, the Hong Kong actress had already expressed to Stephen Chow that she hoped for a chance to act in his film. Well, on 15th July, she certainly proved how ready she was to take on a role in “Shaolin Women’s Soccer”! Her video demonstrated her meeting Stephen’s stated requirements, from her football skills to being ‘smart’ by reading a book upside-down.
She also ensured she hit the “young and curvy” requirement, marking off a section of her video to show herself in a white swimsuit, playing under a shower. However, she then cut to herself looking bored in a bathtub with the caption: “(Would it help if) I tell you that I’m a mermaid?”
Sisley also spoke to Stephen Chow in her caption of her video, saying: “Dear Stephen, the days go by so fast. It has been three weeks since your birthday. (I might) be late but I was thinking of you every moment of the whole trip. I (have) walked nine cities, visited martial arts masters of all walks of life and trained myself. I’m ready.”
Hong Kong media later questioned Sisley Choi about her video and the actress claimed she had produced the whole video on her own; from its concept to the editing, adding music and subtitles. “I hope to use this video to show Master Stephen Chow how sincere I am and how much I appreciate the opportunity,” she added.
Stephen Chow’s assistant later confirmed that Sisley’s application had reached them. However, he also admitted that Stephen Chow had yet to watch the video as they had only received her information but not the video. He also promised to show it to Stephen after they had collected everything required for her audition.
Sisley wasn’t the only one who had her fingers crossed for a role in the movie. Local beauty queen Sandra Lim too tried her luck with her own video, uploaded 11th July. In the video, the first runner-up of the Miss Global 2022 demonstrated her kickboxing skills, which she’d started gaining late last year. The 22-year old certainly cut an impressive figure with her form and dedication.
Well, it seems the duo’s hard work was enough to impress the King of Comedy. Yesterday (16th July), Stephen Chow expressed his approval and acceptance of the duo by reposting their videos on his Instagram Stories with a large thumbs up. Needless to say, Sandra was freaking out over the repost and said as much in her own Instagram Story! “I will record every moment!” she promised. “Because it’s Stephen Chow!!!”
Well, we can’t deny that both Sisley Choi and Sandra Lim have put in a lot of hard work to achieve a role in the movie, in their own ways of course. We look forward to seeing them on screen soon!
