As a timepiece aficionado with a collection worth “tens of millions,” it’s no surprise that he’s partnered with and become the brand ambassador for ultra-luxury Swiss watch maker Audemars Piguet. Their latest special collaboration is certainly something to be excited about.
The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar collaboration watch features the classic octagonal shape and is composed of 200 pieces, including white gold details that can be found across the body and the strap.
Mayer worked with Audemars Piguet’s teams to create a picturesque dial, whose texture and vastness add depth to a complication that has shaped the world of Audemars Piguet since its founding. Every detail works together to give the timepiece a sense of infinity.
The watch has a distinctive blue “Crystal Sky” faceted dial. Unlike previous iterations of the timepiece, this limited edition piece has an uneven and almost coarse watchface, giving the appearance of unique gemstones. When light strikes this unusual watch face, it creates a shimmeringly eye-catching design that has never been seen before.
A new scintillating dial finish brings Mayer’s vision of a crystal sky into reality. The embossed motif is made up of irregular shapes that resemble crystals, and the sharp angles and facets add depth and brilliance to the piece. To achieve this level of detail and complexity, the stamping die was built atom by atom using a metal deposition process known as electroforming.
This wrist-mounted piece of art, spanning 41mm in diameter and 9.5mm in thickness, offers easy readability. A Calibre 5134 movement powers it, ensuring pinpoint precision.
