It’s been months since the authorities began their investigation into the dead teenager found in singer D4vd’s car. Now, the American R&B artist is under arrest in connection with the murder case.
On 16th April 2026 (Thursday) local time, the Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department said they had arrested D4vd for the murder of Celeste Rivas. The 21-year-old, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is currently being held without bail. The authorities will present the case to the District Attorney’s office on Monday (20th April 2026).

Back in September 2025, news outlets reported that police found a decomposing body in an abandoned Tesla belonging to D4vd. Netizens would later learn that the victim, identified as missing Californian teen Celeste, had close ties to the singer. This revelation sparked allegations that D4vd was involved in the teen’s passing or was the perpetrator.
Previously, court documents on the case showed that investigators classified D4vd as a suspect in the murder. However, the singer’s legal team has denied the allegations, saying in a media statement, “Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.”
The team continues to defend the public figure, saying, “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We (the legal team) will vigorously defend David’s innocence.” Meanwhile, D4vd hasn’t spoken publicly since the case began investigations.

Online, netizens have shared their reaction to the singer’s arrest. Many believed he had an involvement in the murder, given his close relationship with the victim. Meanwhile, some fans continue to express support for D4vd, believing in his innocence. However, all in all, many hoped that justice would prevail for the victim.
For now, D4vd remains in police custody until next week, when the authorities present the case to the District Attorney’s office. Only time will tell whether the singer truly has an involvement in Celeste’s death.
