Taiwanese singer Show Lo (羅志祥) may be a great artist. But most may remember him for cheating on his former girlfriend Grace Chow (周揚青) in 2020. Needless to say, that particular scandal had almost wrecked his career. Still, kudos to him, Show Lo did manage to make a comeback two years later.
His comeback was highly helped by the introduction of his female alter ego Zhu Bishi (朱碧石). While Zhu Bishi had been a big hit initially, it seems she recently managed to upset many netizens. Apparently, they weren’t too happy about her being an ambassador for a particular perfume company!
Zhu Bishi was first seen in Show Lo’s music video “Mai Dong Gua (買冬瓜)”. The female alter ego had amazed and entertained many. As such, it wasn’t too surprising to discover ‘she’ had been asked to be an ambassador for a certain perfume brand. Zhu Bishi was reportedly being paid as much as a 7-figure salary in New Taiwan dollars.
During the endorsement announcement, Zhu Bishi appeared in a simple blue dress with curled pigtails. Show Lo certainly roleplayed her well, even referring to himself as Zhu Bishi’s brother. But, during the event, he joking sprayed the expensive perfume on his armpits. Unfortunately, this was supposedly the last straw for the customers.
Netizens later flocked to the perfume company’s socials to leave scathing remarks. Several called out the marketing team, with some claiming they needed new staff. “Destroying the quality of your own brand is not easy,” another reportedly said.
Another netizen added that the scene had pushed him to give away a nearly full bottle of the perfume. They described Show Lo’s actions as “ridiculous and vulgar“. They also added that they had already felt uncomfortable with Show Lo endorsing the brand.
Show Lo hasn’t said a word about the incident either as himself or as Zhu Bishi. The brand too seems to be keeping mum on the matter so far. But, we hope things get sorted out for them soon.
