People’s perception towards divorce can be quite negative as it is considered a taboo. However, many have taken the initiative to share their experiences in hopes that it would destigmatise marriage termination. Back in 2022, singer Shila Amzah officially announced that she had officially separated from her then-husband Haris Idraki Elias.
Although she has never disclosed the reason for the divorce, she has never been ashamed of the divorce. However, the singer is alluding to what actually happened between her and the ex in regards to her past marriage. Here’s what she wrote:
Every now and then, Shila Amzah will take time to answer some fan questions on Instagram. Many have been asking for updates about her recovery after giving birth to her daughter Rhea Akira via Cesarean delivery (C-section) last month. One fan decided to approach the mother-of-two to ask for her advice on whether or not she should end her marriage.
As seen in the screenshot above, the singer received a message that reads, “I want to divorce my husband but I feel so ashamed to do so. Were you ever ashamed about your divorce?”. The 33-year-old answered that she has never regretted her decision to divorce her ex-husband as she needed to do what was best for her and her son Seth. “I was never ashamed ’cause I know I did the right thing for myself and my son. Whatever your decision is, you have to wear it with pride,” she said.
The multilingual artist added that no woman should feel guilty if she has done all her wifely duties. Ultimately, it is the right decision to leave the husband if he has been abusive and neglectful throughout the entire marriage. While Shila has brought up her ex’s abusive behaviour before, this may be the first time she’s revealing that cheating was involved. Then again, perhaps the singer is simply making a general statement.
We’re glad to see Shila Amzah being a lot happier nowadays after marrying Ubai Mz and starting a family together with him. We also hope that the fan she advised will get through the hardship that’s to come.
