Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz, or Haziq Aziz, has found himself the centre of attention after confessing that he was 1 of the men in the viral gay sex video.

The 27-year-old, who is the senior private secretary to Primary Industries Deputy Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, claimed that the sexual act took place at Hotel Four Points in Sandakan.

In the clip, Haziq swore that he allegedly had sex with Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali. He urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to look into this case and declared that the minister is not fit to be a leader.

As at time of writing, PKR’s Saifuddin Nasution told Malaysia Kini that Haziq hasn’t indicate nor submit his letter of resignation yet. Now that the spotlight is on Haziq, here are some things you probably didn’t know about him.

1. He is attached to the Ministry of Primary Industries

As aforementioned, the senior private secretary to Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, the Deputy Primary Industries Minister. He received his letter of appointment earlier in January this year.

2. He previously studied in Universiti Malaysa (UM)

Malaysia Kini reported that the Kuching native holds a law degree from Universiti Malaysa (UM) after enrolling there in 2012.

3. He was guilty of protesting against former PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak

During his first year in UM, Haziq was joined by 2 other UM students an anti-PTPTN demonstration. Mohd Syahid explained that the act of hanging funeral garlands on Najib’s portrait was a form of protest to show their dissatisfaction.

As a result, they were fined RM200 each and were suspended for 1 semester.

4. He also insulted the Sultan of Johor on Twitter

In less than a month of his suspension, Haziq found himself in hot water again. Remember the Sultan of Johor (Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim) had an argument with Former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin over the bidding of car registration number WWW 1?

“You’re the one who bought a plate for RM1 or 2 million, but Nizar is the one who has to apologise to Johoreans,” Haziq shared his 2 cents.

5. Haziq used to be a Barisan Nasional (BN) supporter

“When I first met him, he was a strong supporter of UMNO… Then, he became a Pakatan Rakyat supporter. A few years later, he was following a Sarawak Barisan minister here and there, and I assumed he was for Barisan again,” one of his close friends told The Star.

Back in 2017, Haziq was an intern for BN’s Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri before the 14th General Election (GE14). Since no one filed a complaint against him, no action was taken. “Throughout many years knowing Haziq, he’s very easily influenced. He does have ambition and would do anything to achieve it,” his friend added.

Bonus:

6. His friends were shock at his “public coming out”

“He had a girlfriend last time. They were together for quite a while but I heard they had recently broken up,” a friend commented. Another one revealed that Haziq used to be “religious and active in the school’s Islamic student body” when he studied at Sekolah Sains Alam Shah in Cheras.

7. Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s brother speaks out

Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s younger brother Azwan Ali has commented on the nation’s recent scandal. “It is my brother’s greatest test to date, perhaps there are some people out there who want to bring him down. I hope he will stay strong as he always is, and work hard to clear his name,” the 53-year-old television host was quoted as saying.

“The video did not shock me. I know who my brother is, and I leave it to Malaysians to interpret this!” Azwan added.
