Honesty is the best policy, especially if you’re alone by yourself in a store you’re working at. Well, this particular Setia Mart cashier came up with a clever way to ensure she could not be accused of stealing while attempting to buy something from her work place.
The cashier at Setia Mart had apparently been alone on duty when she got a little peckish. She obviously decided it was easier for her to simply buy a snack from the mart. However, as no one else was around, she had to check herself out. So, to ensure she could not be accused of stealing, she made great use of the nearby CCTV!
“When (your) staff is left by themselves… the CCTV (shows) the proof,” the TikTok video, uploaded by Setia Mart Bandar Puteri in Puchong, read. The footage showed the cashier, a young lady, reaching for a chocolate bar in front of her before showing it to the CCTV.
She then proceeded to clearly telegraph her every move, from scanning the snack, to paying for it. The Setia Mart cashier also ensured she showed the CCTV the money she paid and the change she obtained. Needless to say, she apparently impressed many with her actions.
“Now, that is a good staff (member),” one comment stated. “So cute and disciplined,” another cooed. “Give her a pay raise or promotion for her honesty,” a netizen suggested. A few others shared that they too had similar worries when they previously worked similar jobs. As one said: “Even (if) I pay in front of (my) boss, she will come and check again and also (my) co-worker (will) think I took (it) for free.”
The video has since garnered 3.9 million views and over 155 thousand likes. We can certainly see why it’s popular, it’s adorable watching her meticulously pay for her item while ensuring she’s in the clear. Well, while most despair of being watched by CCTVs, it’s clear it has its benefits too!
