Ramadan is a time of reflection, togetherness, and, of course, indulging in heartwarming dishes that bring people closer. This year, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur presents Sajian Istimewa, a lavish celebration of authentic Malay cuisine and festive delights at Lemon Garden.

Running from 2nd to 31st March 2025, this specially-curated buffet offers a nostalgic journey through Malaysia’s diverse culinary heritage, featuring time-honoured recipes passed down through generations.

A Ramadan Buffet Inspired By Warong Bazaars

Step into the enchanting ambiance of Lemon Garden, where the buffet setup is inspired by Malaysia’s vibrant Ramadan bazaars.

Indulge in a delightful spread of signature Malay dishes, meticulously crafted by Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s master chefs, each showcasing the essence of their home state’s culinary traditions:

  • Chef Muhammad Safri’s Kambing Bakar (Selangor): Marinated for 24 hours and grilled to perfection, this lamb dish with fragrant biryani rice and turmeric-coconut gravy is divine.
  • Chef Nahar’s Rendang Tok Daging Tulang Rusuk (Perak): A slow-cooked beef short rib delicacy, caramelised with toasted coconut and spices, once served exclusively to Perak’s royalty.
  • Chef Hafiz’s Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak (Pahang): A bold and tangy river catfish dish cooked in fermented durian paste.
  • Chef Rasyafiq’s Laksa Johor (Johor): A unique spaghetti-based laksa with rich, fish-based gravy, paying homage to Johor’s royal kitchens.
  • Chef Fazriza’s Kuih Bakar Dangai With Gula Melaka (Penang): A traditional glutinous rice flour dessert with a crispy crust, soft interior, and caramelised palm sugar topping.

Beyond these standout dishes, the buffet also features Ramadan staples such as Bubur lambuk, Ketupat & Lemang with Serunding, and classic Malaysian desserts like Ice Kacang, Chendol, and Pengat Pisang.

  • Kambing Panggang Berempah: Roasted lamb infused with a special blend of herbs and spices.
  • Chicken Rendang & Serunding Ayam: Rich, coconut-based rendang with fragrant shredded chicken floss.
  • Lemang Pulut: Traditional glutinous rice cooked in bamboo, best paired with rendang and serunding.
  • Ayam Percik: Grilled chicken slathered in spiced coconut gravy, offering a delightful balance of smoky, sweet, and savoury flavors.
