One of the most popular cast members of the hit Korean series “Running Man” is Kim Jong-kook (김종국). He is admired not only for his singing and sense of humour, but also for his good looks. The star is often ‘shipped’ with fellow cast member Song Ji-hyo (송지효), although both have denied any romantic involvement.
While their on-screen ‘romance’ may not be real, the singer’s actual relationship is, and it has now been confirmed that he is off the market. Here’s what we know:
According to reports, Kim Jong-kook first shared the news of his marriage while filming an episode of “Running Man”. An insider claimed that none of his cast members knew about his plans to wed and initially thought it was a prank, before later congratulating him on the exciting new chapter in his life. Today (Monday, 18th August), the singer posted a heartfelt letter to fans on his official fansite to confirm the news.
“I’m getting married. Honestly, I tried to drop small hints here and there, but I’m sure many people will feel as though this came suddenly. This is my 30th debut anniversary, and instead of making the album I wanted, I created my ‘other half’ instead. It’s very late, but it’s such a relief that it’s happening now, right? I will work hard to live well,” he wrote.
The 49-year-old added that the wedding will be an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family, and expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported him over the years. He did not disclose the identity of his future spouse, leading many to assume that she is not part of the entertainment industry. Regardless, fans were overjoyed to learn that everyone’s favourite bachelor is finally tying the knot.
