Is “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” coming to the big screen soon? Nope, not at all.
But we might be getting something slightly similar to the famed TV series as it was rumoured that Marvel is planning to develop a “Blade” reboot, centering on Blade’s daughter Fallon Grey.
Rumours and speculations regarding the rumoured reboot have been running wild ever since Marvel got back the rights to “Blade” in 2013. In fact, it was rumoured that a TV series based on “Blade” will be developed too. Wesley Snipes, who starred as Eric Brooks/Blade in the film adaptation of the comic book series, also hinted in an interview with IGN that “Blade 4” might be happening.
Now, new rumour has emerged online, suggesting the “Blade” reboot may no longer centre around Eric Brooks as it will instead focus on his daughter, Fallon Grey.
“Blade” comic writer Tim Seely described Fallon as follows:
She’s a sort of ‘anti-Peter Parker.’ She’s popular, she’s well-liked and it seems like the world is her oyster. But, the expectations that come with being so damn perfect are starting to break her down, and that’s before she learns she’s the heir to a Daywalking-Monster-Stabbing-Empire.
It was first announced in July that Marvel Comics will launch a new comic book series about Fallon Grey. However, according to Bleeding Cool, the series was recently delayed from its planned October release date.
It was later revealed that Marvel studio executives are “being extra-careful with the character” in an effort to make a new movie about her.
It is unclear whether Snipes will return as Blade in the film, but his character is a prominent role in the comic book series about Fallon Grey.
But for now, it’s just a pure speculation. “Blade #1” starring Fallon Grey will have to do well in order for Marvel to develop the film. Fallon could also be the franchise’s first non-white female lead.
