Whether you like them or not, there’s no denying that influencers are “celebrities” in their own right – and just like celebrities, they can make big money from even the simplest of social media posts.

A Facebook post recently went viral to show how much influencers charge brands and advertisers for a posting on TikTok and Instagram. The figures were shared through a post on the Utarmeme Facebook group by someone believed to be an influencer.

SOURCE: FACEBOOK

Based on the post, here’s how much an influencer can make based on the type of posts:

  • 1 Instagram reel: RM22,000
  • 1 TikTok and 1 Instagram reels: RM26,000
  • 1 Instagram post (photo): RM7,000
  • 1 Instagram Stories: RM3,000
  • 1 YouTube video and Facebook video: RM48,000

It is unknown who was the influencer who shared the post, but netizens have claimed that the postings were for a local coffee brand. It’s also worth noting that influencers would use the money to pay for others involved in the production, like the cameraperson or editor. However, that didn’t stop netizens from expressing their shock and envy at how much influencers can make from a simple social media post.

Many netizens said the fee shows why more people prefer to become influencers, adding that they also want to make a career change to be an internet celebrity. Others lament that they don’t even earn RM48,000 per year, let alone from one social media post. Some even mention that an influencer’s popularity would affect their rate, saying that well-known influencers can get get paid up to RM100,000 for a post – depending if you’re a micro or upper tier influencer.

While there’s no way to confirm the rates, it does seem plausible that influencers can earn thousands of Ringgit from one social post – but what do you think about these figures? Were you shocked? Or did you also expect these numbers?
