Discovery Networks Asia Pacific is proud to announce an exclusive programming collaboration with Astro to produce Reef Rescuers, a 30-minute television special which documents Astro Kasih’s Beautiful Malaysia GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt for the longest underwater clean-up, which is currently taking place at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The Astro Kasih’s Beautiful Malaysia initiative is one of Astro’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives under its environment pillar with the objective to raise awareness on preserving the environment through engaging the community with hands-on environmental activities.

This year, Astro Kasih aims to create greater awareness on marine conservation with over 140 volunteer divers from Malaysia and across the world in an epic, non-stop 168-hour, seven-day underwater clean-up mission.

Astro is also poised to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Longest Underwater Clean-Up, which started on 6th April (Saturday) and is scheduled for completion this 13th April 2013 (Saturday). Discovery Channel cameras are currently on site to chronicle the intricacies and commitment involved in this milestone setting marine conservation project.

Reef Rescuers is currently in production and scheduled to premiere on Discovery Channel (Astro Channel 551) in May.
