Being overprotective as a parent is fine. But rapper T.I. revealed that he takes his 18-year-old daughter to a gynaecologist, every birthday, so that he can check up on her hymen. A lot of people think that’s taking things a bit too far.
The reveal happened earlier this week in a podcast, “Ladies Like Us”, hosted by Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham. In it, the rapper was asked if he ever had the “sex talk” with his daughter, Deyjah Imani Harris.
“Have I? This is the thing: Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself,” he said in the podcast. “And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen.”
The “Antman” star then goes into greater details on how the process is done. The rapper would post stick-it note at the door informing his daughter of gynaecologist visit, the morning after her birthday party. The two parties would then sign papers so he would be informed of his daughter’s hymen condition. “I will say as of her 18th birthday, her hymen is still intact,” he proudly declared.
It didn’t take long before the “Live Your Life” rapper became a trending subject on Twitter. This led to celebrities and many others, reacting in disgust at the situation.
One of those celebrities was Sharon Osborne, who said, “Firstly, he should never ever be talking about his daughter’s sex life, ever. On a podcast? I think it’s freaky he would go to the gynaecologist with his daughter and to talk about it. Don’t talk about your kids’ sex life, about what’s going on in their body, it is sacred to them. It’s not your life.”
