Rather than reinventing one of its most recognisable watches, the Swiss watchmaker had focused on a single, striking detail: a shimmering golden dial that makes the vintage inspired icon bolder.
Originally introduced in 1962, the Captain Cook has built a reputation on clean proportions and practical functionality. Over the years, it has become one of Rado’s defining sports watches, balancing retro aesthetics with contemporary engineering. This latest release keeps that formula intact while injecting it with a fresh sense of confidence.
The centrepiece is unmistakably the dial. Finished with a diamond power-like golden texture, its surface catches and reflects light from every angle. Created through a complex multistage manufacturing process, the finish delivers a dynamic sparkle that constantly shifts as the watch moves. Positioning itself neatly between the existing 37mm and 43mm versions, the new Captain Cook arrives in a 39mm stainless steel case For many collectors, this middle ground size strikes the ideal balance, offering substantial wrist presence without feeling oversized.
The polished stainless steel case is paired with a yellow gold coloured PVD bezel surrounding Rado’s signature black high-tech ceramic insert, creating a contrast that complements the warmth of the dial while retaining the collection’s sporty identity.

The versatility extends beyond the case itself.Included with the watch are both a stainless steel rice grain bracelet and a black rubber strap. This allows owners to switch between a more refined or casual aesthetic using Rado’s EasyClip quick-release system.
