Last night (Wednesday, 19th April), we received unfortunate news about the sudden passing of ASTRO (아스트로) member Moonbin (문빈). According to reports, he was found unresponsive by his manager at his apartment in Seoul. The incident was confirmed by the boy group’s label Fantagio.
The recent news of Moonbin’s passing came as a huge shock not only to K-pop fans, but to his fellow group members as well. Not too long after the news came out, it’s revealed that all the members of Astro will be gathering at the late idol’s wake to bid their last goodbye.
Fantagio released an update on the Astro members following the news of Moonbin’s passing. As revealed by the entertainment agency, Cha Eun Woo had immediately departed from Los Angeles and is expected to arrive in South Korea later today at 5:50pm. The “True Beauty” actor travelled to California last week to attend the “Coachella 2023” music festival.
The agency also confirmed that member MJ had taken an emergency leave of absence to attend the wake. The 29-year-old vocalist is currently serving in the military and is scheduled to complete his service on 8th November 2023. It was also reported that Sanha and JinJin, and Rocky are scheduled to pay their respects at the wake.
For those who don’t know, Moonbin also has a little sister named Moon Sua. She’s currently a member of Billlie. The girl group’s agency, Mystic Story, announced that they will be temporarily halting schedules, in light of the tragic news. Astro fans – fondly known as AROHAs – have taken to Twitter to offer their warmest love and support to Sua, who just lost her beloved idol and role model.
