It’s an extremely sad day for AROHA (ASTRO fans) and everyone in the K-pop industry. It was officially announced that ASTRO (아스트로) member Moonbin (문빈)had passed away at 25 years old.
The boyband’s label, Fantagio released an official statement earlier this morning at 1:20am to share the heartbreaking news of the singer’s sudden death.
According to the statement, the idol passed away yesterday (Wednesday, 19th April). “Although it cannot compare to the grief of the bereaved family that had to part with their beloved son and brother, his fellow artists and the staff here at Fantagio, who have been together with him for a long time, are also deeply mourning the departed amidst tremendous shock and sorrow,” the company wrote.
In accordance with the wishes of the K-pop star’s family’s wishes, it is said that the funeral will be held privately with only family members, close friends, and agency colleagues attending. It was reported that the 25-year-old was found dead in his apartment in the Gangnam district of Seoul by his manager after he failed to attend rehearsals.
According to police investigations, it was suspected that the singer took his own life but that information will be confirmed by authorities once they receive an autopsy report on the cause of death.
Moonbin debuted in 2009 as a child actor before becoming a member of ASTRO where he held the position of main dancer and lead vocalist. The group debuted back in 2016. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and fellow members.
