Recently, one amazingly talented girl from Indonesia blew everyone’s minds with her singing abilities. 17-year-old Putri Ariani graced the stage as she auditioned for the 18th season of America’s Got Talent (AGT). Singing her original song “Loneliness”, the Indonesian talent received a Golden Buzzer from the one and only Simon Cowell.
The singer’s audition went viral basically overnight and many are now curious to know more about her. We got you covered cause here are some fun facts about Putri Ariani:
1. She Was The Winner Of Indonesia’s Got Talent
Prior to the viral audition on AGT, Putri actively participated in many local singing contests before her singing career finally took off after she won Indonesia’s Got Talent back in 2014 at 8 years old.
2. She Participated in The Voice Kids Indonesia
After Indonesia’s Got Talent, Putri’s popularity continued to skyrocket when she joined The Voice Kids Indonesia in 2017. Although she did not win the popular singing contest, her position as one of the finalists was enough to grant her the opportunity to sing “Song of Victory” at the 2018 Para Asia Games.
3. She Started Her Own Music Career
After joining and winning the top 3 places in many singing contests, the Indonesian talent decided it was time to focus on releasing her own music. Her debut single “I Love Mama & Papa” was released back in 2018 and since then, she has collaborated with multiple Indonesian artists such as RonieAir, Indra Febrian, and Langit Sore. Her debut album “Seeing With Heart” was released back in 2020.
4. She Lost Her Sight At 3 Months Old
As seen in her AGT audition, Putri is visually impaired. She was born with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and completely lost her sight at 3 months old. However, despite her disability, the musician has proven that she can overcome any obstacle in her way, especially after getting the Golden Buzzer from one of the top talent recruiters in the world.
5. Discovered Her Singing Talent At 2 Years Old
The public figure’s parents discovered that their daughter had a natural gift after learning that she can mimic any sound she hears at 2 years old. Since then, her parents have shown support for her love of singing by giving her the chance to improve and expand her abilities.
6. She’s A Multi-Instrumentalist
Other than singing, Putri is also a talented musician. She is highly skilled on the piano as she learned how to play at a young age and she can also play the flute. Below is one of her performances where she played the wind instrument.
7. She Has A YouTube Channel
As a way to improve her skills and showcase her talents, Putri started a YouTube channel back in 2008 where she frequently posts covers of popular songs as well as her own original music. Her channel has now reached over 37 million views.
8. She Wants To Attend The Julliard School To Study Music
As she mentioned during her audition, Putri has dreams of furthering her studies at The Julliard School which is one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in the world. While she has yet to share why she specifically chose to study at Julliard, it’s still no surprise because of her love for music and performing.
Alumni of the private conservatory have won Grammys, Emmys, Oscars, and Tonys so it’s no wonder that Putri herself wants to be one of those successful alumni.
