It’s a Proton Saga, it’s a wagon, it’s a Proton Saga wagon!

Several leaked photos of the refined version of Proton Saga – the Proton Saga wagon – have been circulating online. It was posted on Facebook by car enthusiast Zainul Azraai, who spotted the wagon as it was being towed to another location. However, he neither revealed where he found the car nor when the encounter occurred.

From what could be gleaned from the photo, the front part looks similiar to the current Proton Saga model, with only the back part undergoing drastic changes. The trunk has been replaced by an extended rear section, which made it look like a mini version of MPVs such as the Peroduo Alza and the Toyota Avanza. New tail lamps, similar to the aforementioned MPVs, have also been fixed on the car.

However, a source at Proton said:

PROTON ALREADY HAS SO MANY MODELS, SO IT NEEDS TO RATIONALISE. ADDITIONALLY, PROTON HAS NOT MADE ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS THAT IT IS LOOKING TO CREATE A WAGON VARIANT.

Keep in mind that the wagon is just a prototype, and will not be in production any time soon, so don’t get your hopes up!

Although the Proton Saga wagon is by no means a confirmed product of Proton, the local carmaker still has 3 new products in line: the new Persona, new Saga, and a rebadged Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

The new Perdana was also recently introduced to the public in early June, and is priced between RM113,888 and RM138,888.
