Pregnant Mother Claims Colleagues Call Her Unborn Child “Israel Baby” Because She Craves McDonald’s

Since last year, many Malaysians have called for a boycott against McDonald’s due to its supposed ties to the Israeli army. While the boycott is generally voluntary, many have taken extreme measures to shame those who do not partake in the boycott.

One pregnant woman unfortunately found herself a victim of bullying by her colleagues after they saw her eating McDonald’s porridge. According to the anonymous sharing through Twitter user @/pelisahh, the expecting mother has severe food aversion due to her pregnancy and can only stomach McDonald’s porridge. She said she has tried other foods and even porridges from other restaurants but can’t find an alternative that doesn’t make her sick.

The woman says she does feel guilty for not participating in the boycott but cannot bear to be sick so often during her pregnancy. She even tried hiding her porridge, but when her office mates discovered she was eating McDonald’s, they started harassing her. Shockingly, they claim she’s pregnant with “Israel’s baby” and one colleague even said that her child would “behave like an Israeli” because she ate McDonald’s during her pregnancy. The mother-to-be voiced her frustration, adding that the issue has caused her emotional distress.

Many netizens have reacted to the post, voicing support for the expecting mother. Many offered alternatives for the woman to try and even taught her how to mimic the flavour of McDonald’s porridge using different ingredients. Netizens also condemned the extreme behaviour of those boycotting the fast food chain, adding that they have no right to shame others for not boycotting. Others also said that as long as it does not go against the religion, Muslims should be allowed to choose whether to boycott a brand.

It seems that the mother would have participated in the boycott if she physically can – but what do you think about this issue? Do you believe that some people have gone too far by shaming, even a pregnant woman, for not boycotting McDonald’s?
