Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: What’s Happened So Far & What Might Be Coming Up!

The groundbreaking success of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet cannot be understated; it’s the fastest-selling Pokémon game of all time (so far), with 10 million units sold in the first 72 hours. We’ve sunk our teeth into this immersively unique Pokémon experience; we were at the edge of our seats because of the difficult battles we had to face, and we were welling up with tears because of the gut-wrenching story. Don’t forget about the bugs, good Lord. But after hours of gameplay, trying our damnedest to catch ’em all, and becoming the best like no one ever was, what comes next?

From our personal experience with the game and as a big fan of the franchise, though the map was large, it felt empty, especially with the post-game. There wasn’t much left to do besides shiny hunting and local or online PvP. Many have also been modifying the game to add some variety to it or simply for fun. Nintendo has made the post-game interesting by adding 6- and 7-star Tera raids, with the latter featuring Pokémon from previous generations. Besides that, Scarlet and Violet don’t have much going for themselves besides those rotating events.

Many people have been wondering what the future holds for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet after Nintendo and Game Freak announced a (much-needed) bug fix and added functionality patch to be released in February. However, what functionality we will receive hasn’t been disclosed. Many speculate that it would be a link to Pokémon Home, where you can transfer Pokémon from previous generations to Scarlet and Violet. Believe it or not, that has been confirmed for Spring 2023. This means that functionality will change in February as the game’s quality of life improves, such as easier ways to navigate boxes and so on.

However, we can argue that Nintendo plans something big for Scarlet and Violet. Before Scarlet and Violet were released, Nintendo confirmed that you’ll be able to transfer some Pokémon caught in Pokémon GO to Scarlet and Violet later in 2023, which is big news and makes shiny Pokémon collecting much easier.

Since 2016, Nintendo has been pushing for a yearly release of Pokémon games, like Legends: Arceus. But if Sword and Shield are anything to go by, we can hope for a DLC later this year that would hopefully expand Scarlet and Violet. Many people theorise that it would return to the Galar region or that it would explore the origin of terastallization.

Who knows? One thing’s for sure: We are all excited to see what this surprise has in store for us.
