A few days ago, actress Mawar Rashid had fans puzzled after she posted photos from what looks like a solemnisation ceremony. Naturally, the public wondered if the post hinted that the 30-year-old had remarried following her divorce from Raf Yaakob in 2023.
However, Mawar finally revealed the truth in an Instagram post dated 13th March (Wednesday). It turns out her mother, Marinee Rashid, was the one tying the knot to a Bruneian man. In her post, the actress wrote, “Mawar (I) can’t believe that Mawar (I) would experience the presence of a father. Who knew you would find love from an old contact in Brunei with just a ‘long time no see’ message in a posting of Prince Mateen’s wedding with Babah (her stepfather) in the video.”
Mawar also shared photos from the couple’s solemnisation ceremony in her post. The star, who lost her father at a young age, is thrilled to welcome her stepfather into the family. She also shared a loving message to her new Bruneian family members, saying, “To my new family in Brunei, welcome to the family. Love you all endlessly.” However, Mawar did express sadness that her mother will soon move to Brunei to be with her new husband but said her mother deserves to live a happy life.
In the comment section, many of Mawar’s fans shared congratulatory messages to the new couple, wishing them a happy marriage. Some also congratulated Mawar for gaining a new father and new family members. However, some couldn’t help but tease the actress about the “plot twist”, saying they thought she was the one getting hitched because of her earlier posts.
