Great news, everyone! We’re only a few months away from 2023, which means we’ve made it through another year of trials. We’re guessing that most of you are just trying to get by, with work, school, and other stressful events circling on your mind, and would do anything for a quick break.

That is why we want to help you regain your motivation by providing a preview of the upcoming public holidays and long weekends! We’ve also included some suggestions for when you can apply for leave to extend your vacation (shhh!)

You need a well-deserved break from the office! If you work from home, you will undoubtedly require some time away from your usual domestic environment. As a result, we’ve compiled a list to help you plan your trip more easily.

The national public holidays in 2023 are:

  1. New Year’s Day: 1st January (Sunday)
  2. Chinese New Year: 22nd – 23rd January (Sunday & Monday)
  3. Nuzul al-Quran: 8th April (Saturday)
  4. Hari Raya Aidilfitri: 22nd – 23rd April (Saturday & Sunday)
  5. Labour Day: 1st May (Monday)
  6. Wesak Day: 4th May (Thursday)
  7. Agong’s Birthday: 5th June (Monday)
  8. Hari Raya Haji: 29th June (Thursday)
  9. Awal Muharram: 19th July (Wednesday)
  10. National Day: 31st August (Thursday)
  11. Malaysia Day: 16th September (Saturday)
  12. Prophet Muhammad’s birthday: 28th September (Thursday)
  13. Deepavali: 12th November (Sunday)
  14. Christmas Day: 25th December (Monday)

These are the long weekends (without vacation leave):

  • New Year’s Day: 31st December – 2nd January (Saturday – Monday)
  • Chinese New Year: 21st – 24th January (Saturday – Tuesday)
  • Hari Raya Aidilfitri: 22nd – 24th April (Saturday – Monday)
  • Labour Day: 29th April – 1st May (Saturday – Monday)
  • Agong’s birthday: 3rd – 5th June (Saturday – Monday)
  • Deepavali: 11th -13th November (Saturday – Monday)
  • Christmas Day: 23rd – 25th December (Saturday – Monday)

Since we want to ensure that you don’t waste away your precious annual leaves too, here’s a guide to spending them wisely:

  • 1 Day Leave on 5th May (Friday) → 4th – 7th May = 4 days (Thursday – Sunday)
  • 1 Day Leave on 30th June (Friday) → 29th June – 2nd July = 4 days (Thursday – Sunday)
  • 2 Days Leave on 17th & 18th July (Monday & Tuesday) → 15th July – 19th July = 5 days (Saturday – Wednesday)
  • 1 Day Leave on 1st September (Friday) → 31st August – 3rd September = 4 days (Thursday  -Sunday)
  • 1 Day Leave on 29th September (Friday) → 28th September – 1st October = 4 days (Thursday – Sunday)

Are you looking forward to the new year? Make sure to mark your calendars so that you won’t miss out on your next vacay in 2023!
