TikTok user Nabiu Rahman recently shared a series of AI-generated images showcasing unique Baju Raya designs. His concept for this year’s outfits draws inspiration from none other than everyone’s childhood favourite, Ultraman. As seen in the photos above, the content creator used AI technology to blend traditional Malaysian attire with elements from the popular Japanese character.
Most of the designs for the male outfits feature the hero’s iconic Colour Timer on the chest, which serves as a warning when he is weakened. Some Baju Melayu designs are less subtle, incorporating an Ultraman mask and weapon. For the women’s Baju Kurung, Nabiu Rahman kept the designs minimal but similar by incorporating Ultraman’s vibrant colour palettes and armour patterns. Like the men’s attire, the Baju Kurung also features a Colour Timer on the chest.
The AI-generated photos quickly went viral, with many jokingly commenting on how unusual Baju Raya designs have become and asking if the outfits are for sale. Some expressed their amusement by warning others not to let their children see the Ultraman-inspired outfits, or they might end up insisting to have their Baju Raya specially tailored. A few commented that the legendary warrior Hang Tuah would cry if he actually saw these designs if he were alive today.
