Many office workers rely on public transportation like the MRT and LRT to get to their workplace – but there has been a long ongoing debate about the stations’ locations. While not often publicised, many public transport users have criticised the location of certain stations that don’t benefit pedestrians.

One of those stations is MRT Phileo Damansara which, despite being utilised most by office workers, doesn’t include direct access to the nearby offices. Twitter user Wala recently brought up this issue when sharing her frustration about the difficulties of getting to her office from the station.

In her Twitter thread, Wala claimed that the station’s construction has zero regard for pedestrians and those working in Phileo Damansara. The area houses numerous businesses in multiple office complexes, including Menara Star, Phileo Damansara I, and Phileo Damansara II. The Twitter user also shared several images of the path she goes through to get to her office.

In the images posted, the path from the station to Phileo Damansara includes uneven roads exposed to traffic. She also spoke about the lack of pedestrian crossings in the area, resulting in cars and drivers being prioritised over pedestrians. The netizen added, “Nobody bothered to build a proper, safe, roofed (or even a) pathway from the station to either Phileos’ entrance.”

Wala also shared several propositions to improve the situation, including adding signage to prioritise pedestrians, so that the ministry concerned could take action. After the thread went viral, many other netizens also spoke about the issue, with most sharing the same frustrations as Wala. Some even added that the situation is worst during rainy days.

We understand Wala’s frustration and hope that the ministry in charge will take action to ensure the safety of the pedestrians in the area.
