Now, the Lunar New Year has rolled around and malls are ready to impress locals and foreigners with their extra-ong-dinary decor! These malls are a must-visit to truly feel the spirit of the upcoming festive season. Without further ado, let’s look at some of the best Chinese New Year mall decorations in Malaysia:
The Exchange TRX
The Exchange TRX is ushering in the Chinese New Year with ‘A Tale of Spring,’ a grand celebration that blends heritage with modern elegance. Guests are invited to experience a visual and sensory spectacle inspired by the beauty of Imperial Gardens. The campaign features immersive installations, live cultural performances, festive dining, exclusive shopping, and a tiered rewards programme, promising an elevated celebration.
The centrepiece of ‘A Tale of Spring’ is a grand Imperial Garden-inspired installation at the Central Exchange. Drawing inspiration from classical Chinese gardens, the display showcases lush floral arrangements, symbolic motifs, and elegant design elements.
Suria KLCC
Suria KLCC unveiled its Chinese New Year 2025 campaign, promising a unique and immersive festive experience from now to 9th February. This year’s celebrations feature stunning decorations befitting the theme of a contemporary Chinese garden. Step into a captivating monochrome red and gold Chinese Garden at the Centre Court, featuring intricate Chinese paper-cutting motifs.
Highlights of the space include a grand arch, a charming Chinese pagoda, the twelve Chinese zodiacs and a picturesque bridge spanning over an interactive digital koi pond. Adding to the enchanting atmosphere, the Gold Blossoming Tree of Prosperity stands proudly in the garden, symbolising abundance and prosperity for all. Over at the Esplanade KLCC, a majestic Chinese grand arch is flanked by equally impressive towers.
The Gardens Mall

The Gardens Mall has brought a different and unique take on its Lunar New Year decorations. Instead of going with the usual red and gold colour scheme, the shopping centre recreated iconic Chinese courtyards and has pink as its main colour. Take this opportunity to indulge yourself in the luscious magnolias and fully bloomed cherry blossoms, and don’t forget to snap photos to relive the memories forever!
Intermark Mall

At Intermark Mall, take a journey back in time with Vintage Lunar Splendour, where the opulence of Old Shanghai comes to life. With stunning decorations inspired by the golden age of the Bund, this theatrical wonderland celebrates the era’s elegance and artistic heritage, offering a captivating experience for all visitors. Shoppers can immerse themselves in vintage charm through special workshops, such as traditional DIY Rouge Making by Sutekina Handmade, and create timeless memories with a glamorous makeover and photography session at the Makeover Studio by Young Generation Studio.
Until 16th February, the Chinese New Year Market offers festive essentials and gifts from premium retailers including Jaya Grocer, Hank’s, Living Circles Concept and Malaysia’s famed couturier Carven Ong. A meaningful addition to the festivities, Intermark Mall invites visitors to donate used fabric at collection bins placed on the concierge, ground floor.
IOI City Mall Putrajaya

Blooming flowers will lure you to visit IOI City Mall’s beautiful Chinese New Year interior! Situated on the lower ground level of the east court, you surely can’t miss out on visiting the site while at the mall. Ascend the stairs and take in the view from up on the pagoda. Don’t forget to take some cute pics!
IOI Mall Puchong

Maximalism isn’t always everything, and IOI Mall Puchong proved just that! Walk around and mesmerise the simplistic decorations that were put up for the Lunar New Year, which include this beautiful gazebo in the middle of the shopping centre. Tall bamboo trees are also placed around the area, making it feel like you’ve stepped into a whole different realm.
Sunway Pyramid

Don’t we love eco-friendly decorations? Sunway Pyramid nailed just that with its red forest CNY interior, made of biodegradable material. Situated at Lower Ground 2 of the Orange Concourse, enjoy a walk under hanging lanterns, throw a coin and make a wish at the wishing pond, and most importantly—take pics at many of their Instagram-able photo ops! These lovely decorations will only be up until 9th February 2025 (Sunday), so do check them out.
Pavilion Bukit Jalil
This Chinese New Year, Pavilion Bukit Jalil and Disney invite you to join Mickey Mouse and Friends in a spectacular “Prosssperity Together” celebration. Step into a Disney-themed celebration that combines timeless Disney charm with festive traditions, creating cherished memories for families and visitors of all ages.
Happening from now to 16th February, the festivities will transform Pavilion Bukit Jalil into a Disney-themed pop-up that pays homage to Chinese New Year. At the heart of this celebration is a magnificent pagoda adorned with intricate Chinese New Year motifs, symbolising prosperity, harmony, and renewal.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will make a special appearance to meet fans of all ages. Pavilion Bukit Jalil visitors will discover numerous photo-worthy spots throughout the mall, including a beautifully crafted Mickey Mouse statue.
MyTOWN Shopping Centre
This Chinese New Year, immerse yourself in the spirit of renewal, abundance and togetherness with MyTOWN Shopping Centre! The mall is ushering in the Year of the Snake with their “Waves of Prosperity” festive campaign that celebrates wealth, success and the joy of prosperous connections.
From now until 9th February, experience breathtaking decor inspired by the natural flow of fortune and growth and enjoy all the wonderful activities offered. While at the launch event, we were treated to an oriental mystic dance performance and a lion dance performance to up the prosperity level. We also checked out all the photo spots you can visit with family and friends to deepen your connection this CNY!
The Curve

Chinese New Year is all about sharing luck and prosperity, and we did just that at Curve’s “Garden of Fortune” launch! In the middle of the mall, you can see a beautifully made Chinese pagoda with many Lunar New Year decorations, such as lanterns and cherry blossom trees. They even have a water feature area surrounded by a lot of peonies; it’s simply astounding.
The launch event kicked off with a classic lion dance show featuring lions, which gave mandarin oranges to the audience! Next was a live painting and music session, where two gifted young women showcased their talents inside the pagoda—and it was stunning to watch traditional art being performed live!
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

At Pavilion KL, experience grand Prosperity in Harmony, where tradition meets luxury. The mall’s iconic Centre Court comes alive beneath a breathtaking canopy of red lanterns—a stunning centrepiece symbolising good fortune and the spirit of togetherness. The journey continues as you ascend the steps to prosperity at the renowned Spanish Steps, where four symbolic snake guardians await to bestow their blessings, each representing a distinct pathway to prosperity.
