Just last month, we witnessed Malaysia transform some of its amazing shopping centres into a winter wonderland. It was truly an amazing sight, especially because some of these malls managed to make it snow, literally.

Now, the Lunar New Year has rolled around and malls are ready to impress locals and foreigners with their extra-ong-dinary decor! These malls are a must-visit to truly feel the spirit of the upcoming festive season. Without further ado, let’s look at some of the best Chinese New Year mall decorations in Malaysia:

The Exchange TRX

The Exchange TRX is ushering in the Chinese New Year with ‘A Tale of Spring,’ a grand celebration that blends heritage with modern elegance. Guests are invited to experience a visual and sensory spectacle inspired by the beauty of Imperial Gardens. The campaign features immersive installations, live cultural performances, festive dining, exclusive shopping, and a tiered rewards programme, promising an elevated celebration.

The centrepiece of ‘A Tale of Spring’ is a grand Imperial Garden-inspired installation at the Central Exchange. Drawing inspiration from classical Chinese gardens, the display showcases lush floral arrangements, symbolic motifs, and elegant design elements.

Suria KLCC

Suria KLCC unveiled its Chinese New Year 2025 campaign, promising a unique and immersive festive experience from now to 9th February. This year’s celebrations feature stunning decorations befitting the theme of a contemporary Chinese garden. Step into a captivating monochrome red and gold Chinese Garden at the Centre Court, featuring intricate Chinese paper-cutting motifs.

Highlights of the space include a grand arch, a charming Chinese pagoda, the twelve Chinese zodiacs and a picturesque bridge spanning over an interactive digital koi pond. Adding to the enchanting atmosphere, the Gold Blossoming Tree of Prosperity stands proudly in the garden, symbolising abundance and prosperity for all. Over at the Esplanade KLCC, a majestic Chinese grand arch is flanked by equally impressive towers.

The Gardens Mall has brought a different and unique take on its Lunar New Year decorations. Instead of going with the usual red and gold colour scheme, the shopping centre recreated iconic Chinese courtyards and has pink as its main colour. Take this opportunity to indulge yourself in the luscious magnolias and fully bloomed cherry blossoms, and don’t forget to snap photos to relive the memories forever!

Intermark Mall

At Intermark Mall, take a journey back in time with Vintage Lunar Splendour, where the opulence of Old Shanghai comes to life. With stunning decorations inspired by the golden age of the Bund, this theatrical wonderland celebrates the era’s elegance and artistic heritage, offering a captivating experience for all visitors. Shoppers can immerse themselves in vintage charm through special workshops, such as traditional DIY Rouge Making by Sutekina Handmade, and create timeless memories with a glamorous makeover and photography session at the Makeover Studio by Young Generation Studio.

Until 16th February, the Chinese New Year Market offers festive essentials and gifts from premium retailers including Jaya Grocer, Hank’s, Living Circles Concept and Malaysia’s famed couturier Carven Ong. A meaningful addition to the festivities, Intermark Mall invites visitors to donate used fabric at collection bins placed on the concierge, ground floor.
