If you’re in Penang or planning a trip to Penang soon, there’s a whole bunch of things to do here that you wouldn’t want to miss out on, including visiting a new art exhibition named Subculture. Presented by Cultprint, Subculture brings together over 20 local and international artists whose works are shaped by the communities they’re part of, personal stories, and cultural margins spanning various mediums such as painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and print.

Open to the public from 7th March to 3rd May 2026, the exhibition launches in conjunction with the Penang Long Art Weekend (6th to 9th March), an independent initiative by Penang galleries aligning exhibitions and events across the city to foster dialogue within the regional art community.

Hosted within Cultprint’s heritage house space on Lebuh Melayu, the exhibition introduces new artists including Tep York from Malaysia, Jolene Liam from Singapore, and Kuro Neko from Ukraine, alongside members of Cultprint’s current roster.

“We founded Cultprint on the principle that artistic practice is not solitary but communal; shaped and strengthened through exchange. Our annual group exhibitions reaffirm this commitment to dialogue, collaboration, and cultural continuity,” said Sheena Liam, Co-Founder of Cultprint.
