Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is known to many as the best place to shop in the city, especially if you’re a fan of the high-end. However, if you often drive to the mall or park at their parking space, note that Pavilion KL will increase its parking fees next year.

The price hike was shared online by XiaoHongShu user Sharon Wong, who posted a notice from the Kuala Lumpur mall. The sign, believed to be taken at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, states that the new parking fees will be effective 1st January 2024. According to the notice, the new hourly rate for the mall would be RM4 for the first hour and an additional RM4 for every subsequent hour – RM1 more than the previously listed RM3.

The weekday flat rate parking for hours between 5pm and 7am has also increased, jumping from RM8 to RM10 per entry. The maximum charge per entry will soon be RM40 instead of the previous RM30. If you ever lose your parking ticket in 2024, you have to pay RM100 for the penalty instead of the usual RM50. However, car drivers would be those mainly affected by the price hike as all fees for motorcycle parking remain unchanged.

Netizens have reacted to the new parking fee structure, showing mixed reactions. Some surprisingly said that the new fees are still somewhat cheap, perhaps compared to other high-end malls in the city like The Exchange TRX. Others advised shoppers to use public transportation instead of paying for parking if they want to visit the mall.

At least parking in the Pavilion doesn’t seem like a hassle compared to other malls in the Klang Valley. Twitter user @/Nashman once complained about 1Utama Shopping Centre only accepting cash for parking payment instead of allowing shoppers to use their Touch ‘n Go cards. He laments that the mall’s refusal to accept a cashless payment option causes more hassle for shoppers, especially when exiting the mall.

What do you think about the new parking fee structure for Pavilion Kuala Lumpur? Do you think it’s too much? Or are you unaffected by the changes?
