#OurThirdLife: That “Girl Speaks Fluent American” Video Was Totally Satirical

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you’ve seen this Facebook video that came with the caption: “Don’t make fun of her. She speaks fluent American.”

The video was uploaded by a Facebook user named “Elihudi Justin Urassa” on 8th September 2015.

England is Confusing - Our Third Life

It features an unknown American girl talking about the “language barrier” she had with an English dude she met on AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). She stated that she was talking to him about a video game that she wanted because she was hoping that he would buy it to her.

When she asked how much was it, he said that it costs 15 pounds. “The thing I’m wondering is, why does it weigh so much?” she asked.

She then added:

Does it have to do with where England is located? So like, if you know the solar system, America’s in the middle, and England is the closest to the sun I think. So maybe there’s a possibility that there’s a difference in gravity or something?

Her statement immediately drew attention from those who watched the video and in less than 48 hours, the video went viral.

The video first started trending on Reddit’s /r/videos before it was shared across other social media platforms.

According to Daily Dot, it was uploaded to YouTube by someone named Sean Welsh, who apparently stole the original video from a young comedian before passing it off as genuine on Reddit. He retitled the video from “England is Confusing” to “Girl speaks fluent American”, hoping to put American teenagers in a negative light.

But of course, the original video was meant to be satirical and the girl in the video namely Pupinia Stewart was definitely just trolling.

She is a member of “Our Third Life” and together with Schmitty Winkelson, they created a YouTube channel consisting of a bunch of satirical videos where they talk about random things like how Pupinia’s in love with Donald Trump (and how he’s a bad boyfriend as well) and how you can fix your iPhone. She also “ranted” about how people are hating on her hero Justin Bieber.

Judging by the things they posted on the YouTube channel, most people would know that they are just some trolls with a weird sense of humour. We’ve got to give props to Pupinia for convincing us that what she said in all those videos were for real though.

Oh, for your information, that viral video sort of has a sequel:
