The premiere was held in collaboration with Suraya Films, the Iranian Embassy and BFM Radio, the country’s first radio station focused on business news.

Mr. Kenny Wong (CEO of TGV Cinemas Sdn Bhd), Yang Berhormat Senator A. Kohilan Pillay (Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs), Mr. Malek Ali (founder and CEO of BFM), Mr. Balan Rathnakrishnan (founder of Suraya Film & Production Sdn Bhd), and Mr. Siva Kumar Krishnan (Ingress Auto BMW) were all in attendance.

Upon arrival, guests were treated to a scrumptious cocktail reception at the classy TGV Club premier lounge, which provided an excellent atmosphere for mingling and relaxing before settling down for some serious entertainment!

Written and directed by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, A Separation revolves around the lives of a married couple Nader and Simin, who are faced with a difficult decision of either  improving the life of their child by moving to another country or  staying in Iran and looking after Nader’s (the husband) ailing father who is suffering from Alzheimer’s.  However, Simin is determined to get a divorce and leave the country with her daughter.

According to the Los Angeles Times Film Critic, Asghar Farhadi’s thrilling domestic drama offers acute insights into human motivations and behaviour as well as a compelling look at what goes on behind a particular curtain that almost never gets raised. The movie was also designated a Critic’s Pick by the Film Reviewers of New York Times in 2011:

“We look forward to bringing more independent films to our cinema screens as we believe there is a strong demand for such content in Malaysia. At TGV Cinemas we want to explore fresh avenues to provide moviegoers interesting and unique experiences,” said Kenny Wong.
