Expectation Vs Reality: Organiser Slammed For Tricking Children With McD Packages

We’ve often heard stories of how disappointed people are when the reality of things don’t meet their expectations. Previously, a customer didn’t know how to react exactly when her mushroom order turned out to be completely different from how it looked on the menu.

These stories are often told by adults but imagine how a child would react if they were being fooled the same way? That seems to be the case when an organiser for an event tricked children into thinking they were having McDonald’s for lunch. Here’s what happened:

SOURCE: FACEBOOK

Yesterday (Tuesday, 15th August), a teacher and content creator who goes by Abdul Muiez made a post on his Facebook to share a message he received from a parent. In the post, he wrote that the parent’s child was involved in a state-level programme that was organised by the (unnamed) state’s Department of Education.

The professional educator shared that the child was extremely excited when the organiser gave the children McDonald’s boxes with the words “McD Fried Chicken” written on them, as any child would be. However, their dreams of having a delicious meal that day were ruined after discovering the boxes did not actually contain fried chicken in them; only a piece of bread and a juice box.

The child’s guardian expressed how sad they were to see their kid being tricked like that. “[The organiser] shouldn’t have given the children false hope. They should be more concerned and attentive about this,” they wrote in the Whatsapp message. In a follow-up message shared in the comments, it appears that this was the second time it happened as earlier, the children were given the same food in a McDonald’s paper bag, again, tricking them into thinking it was actually McDonald’s.

The Facebook post went viral with netizens criticising the organisers for their dishonesty. Many were angered by how the organisers played with the children’s emotions with their trickery. Some even asked the digital creator to expose the organisers so they could be held accountable for their actions.

At the time of writing, there has been no update on whether the unspecified state’s Department of Education has apologised for the incident. We also hope that they will make amends by actually treating those kids with McDonald’s.
