When a pop-up is created to celebrate a celebrity or their new release, it’s not uncommon for influencers to attend to promote the event. However, the recent issue surrounding BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) Rosé’s (로제) pop-up in Chengdu prompted heated debate about mismanagement.
Earlier this week, a Chinese influencer named Daisy sparked backlash for her actions at Rosé’s “Rosie” pop-up in Chengdu. For those unfamiliar with Daisy, she’s known amongst BLINKs for being a Rosé fan who often shares about her interactions with the singer. However, she has also been criticised for trying to copy the BLACKPINK vocalist, particularly her style.

Over the weekend, Daisy attended the pop-up as a one-day manager to promote the event. However, many noted that Daisy seemingly used the pop-up to promote herself, even signing official merchandise with her autograph and taking photos with fans. The influencer later apologised for her actions, adding that she was invited to the event by the organisers.
Following the controversy, Artisynx, the pop-up’s organiser, issued a statement regarding Daisy’s appearance. In the post, the team clarified that they were unaware of the one-day manager event, adding that they never approved for it to take place. Rosé’s agency, THEBLACKLABEL, and the Rosie team also weren’t aware of Daisy’s appearance.

Understandably, the statement only brought about more backlash and confusion. Many slammed the organiser and the Chengdu mall where the pop-up took place for not communicating such events, leading to controversy. On the other hand, many continue to criticise Daisy and even urged THEBLACKLABEL to block her from future events.
Interestingly, Daisy wasn’t the only influencer invited to be a one-day manager at a Rosie pop-up, which sparked more criticism about organising such events without proper approval. What are your thoughts on this?
