Oceans, Stars & Flying Saucers: 3 Bougie Watches That’ll Get You Stoked!

Watches often help round out your style, but what happens when they’re the star of the show?

Well, we’ve curated a list of new timepiece drops that are definitely the main character. Ranging from gleaming gold construction to sapphire-coated glass, these watches take luxury to a whole new level.

Casio 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Oceanus

For 50 years, Casio has been a leader in the timekeeping industry, rivalling even the Swiss heavy hitters. As a testament to its endurance in facing intense competition and the unforgiving nature of time, the Japanese watchmaker is creating a new limited-edition timepiece called the Oceanous Manta OCWS7000SS2A.

In honour of Casio watches’ 50th anniversary, this limited edition model embodies the timeless yet ever-evolving concept of “sky and sea.” To further focus on that theme, the timepiece features a dazzling blue scratch-resistant bezel and a dial imbued with gold accents.

This unique model represents the history and upcoming challenges of the watch, with functions that fit the times and lifestyles, and a unique CMF design (colour, material, and finish). Crafted in Japan, the watch features a titanium body with DLC coating, ensuring that it’ll see the company’s 100th anniversary.

Of course, to keep in line with its namesake, the Oeanous Manta can survive up to 10 atmospheres of water, thanks to the reinforced body and the sapphire glass protecting the dial.

Oceanous Manta OCWS7000SS2A is available now for US$1,800 (~RM8,402) and can be purchased through Casio’s official website.

Furlan Marri’s Disco Volante

It’s time to go vintage, as the Swiss watch brand Furian Marri has debuted its Disco Volante series, which promises to deliver the look of classic timepieces with a modern twist.

The collection has three different versions: Disco Celeste (blue), Disco Verde (green), and Disco Havana (brown). All three timepieces feature an elegant 38mm case size that is only 8.95mm thick. This is an intentional design choice as a way to honour its name, which means “flying saucer” in Italian.

Disco Celeste features a blue and white dial that, in low light, brilliantly illuminates thanks to its BGW9 Super-LumiNova. The Old Radium Super-LumiNova inserts on the Disco Verde version, which is dressed in green and cream, add to its retro appeal and give it an aura of classic elegance. The Havana Disco watch has brown accents that contrast with its soft salmon colour.

Powering all this is the Peseux 7001, an ultra-thin and reliable manual-winding movement that is the crown jewel of Swiss Manufacture, Fabrique d’ébauches de Peseux SA. The calibre was first developed in the 1950s and has since undergone modifications and refinements to meet contemporary horological requirements. With a sapphire crystal caseback that ensures 5 ATM water resistance and a frequency of 21,600 vph, it also has a handy 42-hour power reserve.

The Disco Volante collection is now available for US$2,780 and can be purchased through Furian Marri’s official website.

Christiaan van der Klaauw × Revolution Planetarium Prometheus

For the first time, the Dutch watchmaker Christiann van der Klaauw has collaborated with Revolution Watch to create this truly stellar timepiece.

The starry Aventurine dial of the Planetarium Prometheus presents a celestial spectacle with our solar system incorporated as a horological complication. What the device’s creators describe as the smallest mechanical planetarium is perched on the lower sector of the watch face; this feature also brought CVDK the GPHG Calendar and Astronomy Watch Prize back in 2021.

Vacheron Constantin Stops Time With Stunning Métiers d’Art Tribute To The Celestial Collection

White Roman numerals adorn the top portion of the dial, where the 12 of the clock index is replaced by the iconic logo of the Maison. A radial date and month display rests between the numerals and the Breguet-style hands.

In addition to commemorating the fifth decade anniversary of CVDK’s Astronomical Complications, the 40mm polished titanium case is home to a brand-new in-house manufactured movement. The caseback opens to reveal this magnificent movement, which proudly displays all of its skeletonised glory with frosted stars.

The Planetarium Prometheus is now available for US$49,000 (~RM228,744) through Revolutions’s official webstore.
