Internet Trolls Tell Nur Sajat She Doesn’t Deserve To Celebrate International Women’s Day

Yesterday was an important day as we celebrated International Women’s Day. Companies, brands, and food branches went all out with the promotions to celebrate the women in our every day lives. Some celebrated with their loved ones while others celebrated themselves.

Holidays are meant to be happy days but unfortunately for some people, they might not get to celebrate the day without drama. Earlier today (Wednesday, 9th March), well-known transgender cosmetic entrepreneur Nur Sajat got condemned by netizens after posting a photo on Instagram.

As you may know, Sajat has legally registered as a woman in Australia and expressed she felt as if she was “reborn” and was happy because the process of changing her gender status in the country was easy. As a way to celebrate her new found freedom and legal gender status, the 35-year-old posted a photo of her with another beauty in Sydney, Australia captioned, “Happy women’s day❤️”.

But netizens back in Malaysia are not happy with the photo nor caption as many believe International Women’s Day is reserved for “real women” only. One user commented, “Women’s day is for real women only. Fake ones cannot join”. Another user commented saying that trans women are not real women.

It seems like Nur Sajat can’t catch a break with whatever it is she’s doing as posting a simple photo can get this much negative comments from netizens. Even so, the entrepreneur has never let anyone stop her from living her life.

An hour after the first post, she posted another photo of a quote on her Instagram that reads, “Say No more often so you can say Yes to what’s important” with the caption, “🇦🇺🖤🏳️‍⚧️,” showing her love to her new home.

Nur Sajat’s issues with Malaysian authorities began in January of last year when she was called by the religious department after allegedly receiving public complaints. The entrepreneur then fled to Australia to seek political asylum from Malaysia after not feeling safe in her home country.
