We know it, you know it, we can all admit it – Klang Valley is truly a melting pot of various cuisines, a variety of styles of serving these cuisines, and some of the most beautiful places that have these cuisines on their menus. So many that we’re often spoilt for choice and so many that sometimes, we can take up to hours to decide on a “nice place for dinner”. Sure, there are plenty of fine dining restaurants in the city. But what if you want something a little bit more special? What if you’re pining for a more unique or romantic experience?

What if what you really want is a place where you can dine while enjoying the amazing view, be it high above the ground or surrounded by lush greenery?

Well, you’re in luck because we know of a few places. If you haven’t been to some of these unique dining experiences in Klang Valley, make this your list of to-dos or rather, to-gos 😉

Roofino Skydining

Roofino Skydining, located on the 34th floor of KL Trillion, aims to elevate the sky dining experience with a breathtaking view over Kuala Lumpur’s City Centre and beyond. Roofino Skydining is a daily serving coffee, beverages, and dinner fusion Mediterranean Italian restaurant featuring an indoor and outdoor dining and lounge area.

You can locate it at  338, Jln Tun Razak, Kampung Datuk Keramat, 55000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.

Cantaloupe @ Troika Sky Dining, Kuala Lumpur

Nestled atop The Troika, Cantaloupe has one motto and one motto only – to offer simply fine food in a room with a view. The restaurant is part of a multi-concept dining experience, with fine dining championing its menu of modern European cuisine. If you’re planning to go there on a special romantic dinner, you can opt to dine at the balcony where you will be able to gawk over the great city landscape view. But that’s not to say that the inside area of Cantaloupe is not inviting because it’s exquisitely designed and can seat large parties too if need be (provided you’ve made your reservation).

Subak, Bukit Lanjan

Want to dine with nature? Sure! We know of a place that offers lush resort-like greenery that’s not too far away from Petaling Jaya called Subak. It’s a secluded, Balinese-style restaurant (maybe with a little “kampung” vibe) that’s only about a few minutes’ drive from Mutiara Damansara. As for its food, Subak offers dishes that are meant to be Indonesian-inspired, but there’s also a smattering of Western and local dishes on its menu. So, if you’re a fan of Javanese food, this is the place for you – with charm to boot, even!

Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine, Kuala Lumpur

If we could award a restaurant for being original (in terms of ambience), this would be it. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Kuala Lumpur city, the elegant Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine is set amongst a magnificent pool of lotus blossoms. You can either choose to dine indoor, outdoor, or in one of their private huts which can fit about 8-14 pax, depending on the size of the hut. And no prizes for guessing what cuisine Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine serves 🙂 If you go on a weekend, you can feast on their ala-carte buffet, which offers a wide range of Thai cuisine, as well as free flows of beer, wines, fruit punch, coffee or tea.

Address: Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine 5 Jalan U-Thant, Kuala Lumpur.

Marini’s on 57, Kuala Lumpur

Opened in 2012, Marini’s on 57 is Kuala Lumpur’s highest rooftop bar, Italian restaurant, and whiskey & cigar lounge; each offering its own unique flavour. It has been said that the restaurant offers one of the best views over Kuala Lumpur, hands down. And we find that a little hard to disagree with! So, as you soak in the atmosphere, you may choose to sip on one of their signature cocktails or take your pick out of their premium selection of whiskeys and wines before heading over to their award-wining Italian restaurant for some noms. Then call it a dinner well spent and a night 🙂

Senja is an Italian restaurant built on stilts above a man-made lake overlooking the lush greeneries, golf course and lake. It also offers alfresco dining on the deck or indoors where diners can unwind over dinner with popular tunes by a jazz band. Its main dining room features a show kitchen, which serves piping hot pizzas and bread from the wood burning oven, as well as favourite pasta dishes and other Italian specialties. Here’s a tip: Go during the evening to watch the beautiful sunset while you dine.

Tamarind Springs, Kuala Lumpur

Tamarind Springs is best described as “an immediately accessible respite to restore soul into your exhausted self” – and we can see why. Situated only 15 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur city, within Ampang’s natural reserve, the restaurant allows you to leave your worries behind as you step into its lush gateway for a visual and sensory feast. Tamarind Springs serves up delicious traditional Indochinese fine dining cuisine that’s absolutely to die for. Having won many industry accolades and topped many gastronomes’ scoreboards, we can see why the restaurant leaves its patrons begging for more.

Thirty8 Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur

What will you find if you stepped into the 39th floor of the new Grand Hyatt? The beautiful Thirsty8 Restaurant, that’s what. Boasting a sky lobby that offers a beautiful view panoramic 360 view of the Kuala Lumpur city, simple words will not be able to do the restaurant any justice. It allows patrons to walk around the dining area to soak in the atmosphere, only stopping to look at the open kitchens and live cooking stations located in the centre of the restaurant. Thirty8 Restaurant has also got a menu to boot as it serves up some of the most delicious Japanese, Western, and Chinese food. Well worth the experience 😉

Samira by Asian Terrace, Sentul Park (KLPAC)

Work in the city and want to escape the concrete jungle? Head on over to your tropical oasis escape at Samira by Asian Terrace. Built using dark wood and lit by ornate gilded lamps, the restaurant has got a romantic vibe because it’s intimately dim. To make your warm and cosy meal complete, Samira by Asian Terrace offers a wide range of Thai dishes, some of which are unique to the restaurant. For example, their traditional hearty Thai thick tom yum. If you think you can handle it, quickly wash it down with with a serving of the Thai fresh mango with sticky rice dessert and a Samira by Asian Terrace’s Thai-style mocktail. You won’t regret it!

Address: Jalan Strachan, Sentul, 51100 Kuala Lumpur.

Thai Fish Farm, Ampang KL

We won’t deny it – it does take some effort getting to this restaurant. The best way to get to Thai Fish Farm (other than Maps and Waze) is to head towards the now defunct Ampang Lookout Point, then keep an eye out on the left for a signboard with the restaurant’s name. Thai Fish Farm is built on wooden platforms above fish ponds. On a busy night i.e. weekend, the restaurant can get packed with a max of 500 people so it’s best to go early. What do they offer, you ask? Only the freshest of seafood and also, fresh vegetables right out of the restaurant’s vegetable plots. There are also individual counters that serve salads, fruit juices, and desserts. Remember to take lots of pictures while you’re there!

Meanwhile, don’t forget to check out some of the specialty brunch places in Klang Valley that we love, as well as these speakeasy bars. If you’re a pet lover and you desperately need to bring your furkid out, hit up one of these pet-friendly cafes. Thank us later!
