Picture this: you go to a petrol station to fill your car – but the pump suddenly runs dry! Never experienced that? Well, these Malaysians have and here are their experiences.
The conversation started when Twitter user @/OhhB_ wrote, “Have you ever started filling up at a petrol station when the petrol suddenly ran out? It happened to me for the first time in my life.” The Twitter user wasn’t the only one with that unexpected experience because many other Malaysians have also been through the same situation.

One Twitter user said it happened to her during the Raya holidays when travelling between Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah. She added that even at the stations with supply, customers weren’t allowed to fill up to a full tank. Another person also had that experience, sharing that they only got to fill up 9 cents worth of petrol before the station ran out.
Another netizen shared that when they realised the station was about to run out of fuel, they tried their best to fill up to RM10 worth of petrol to make it easier to get a refund. Interestingly, some netizens said they never got to fill up because of electrical issues. Turns out, the petrol station suddenly had a blackout which meant there was no way to use the pumps.

If you’re wondering how people could end up in this situation, some netizens did share a few reasons. One reason was that the fuel tank lorries were either late or stuck in traffic. A former Petronas employee said they once ran out of RON95 because the tank lorry was late and added that the employees could only offer RON97 to customers because of it.
Another former petrol station employee said that even when the lorries were on time, the petrol station didn’t have enough money to pay the lorries to get the fuel. According to another tweet, “too much demand, not enough supply” could also cause this issue, especially during the holiday season.

If you have never experienced this situation, consider yourself lucky – but if you have, at least you’re not the only one.
