Night Keepers & GOOSE Unite For Emotional New Single “Happiness Hurts”

by Dean Zaini
November 20, 2025

The Taiwanese collective and Singaporean band are teaming up for a poignant post-rock track—and they’re bringing it to life on stage this month.

Taiwanese psychedelic electronic collective Night Keepers 守夜人 and Singaporean band GOOSE 我鳥 have just released their collaborative single “Happiness Hurts,” arriving ahead of Night Keepers’ first-ever headline show in Singapore at Wire Entertainment on 23rd November, where GOOSE will join them on stage as special guests to perform the song live for the first time.

What To Expect From “Happiness Hurts”

If you’re familiar with Night Keepers’ signature sound—think layered guitars, ambient textures, and psychedelic soundscapes—you’ll find all of that in “Happiness Hurts,” but with a fresh post-rock twist. The song is actually a reimagining of Night Keepers’ previous Mandarin single, now transformed through the collaborative energy between the two bands.

Thematically, “Happiness Hurts” dives into life’s contradictions: the idea that joy doesn’t always heal sadness, and sometimes happiness itself comes with its own kind of pain. It’s a track that offers listeners space to sit with the truth that these emotions can coexist—something we don’t always acknowledge in our everyday lives.

How This Collaboration Came Together

The story behind this partnership is serendipitous. Night Keepers and GOOSE first crossed paths at Singapore’s CLANG 克浪 Music Festival, where GOOSE members were in the audience watching Night Keepers perform. Deeply moved by what they witnessed, GOOSE reached out after the show to express their admiration and suggest a potential collaboration.

As it turns out, Night Keepers’ WiFi had been a fan of GOOSE’s music for a while too. But it wasn’t until the 歌曲再創計畫 (Song Reimagining Project) came along that the stars finally aligned for them to collaborate.

“We feel truly honored and touched,” GOOSE shared about the partnership. “Night Keepers’ music carries a calming power, and meeting like-minded musicians to collaborate—especially discovering that we share similar tastes—makes this connection feel particularly special to us.”

Fresh off Emerge Festival Malaysia and heading to Emerge Festival Tokyo, Night Keepers are making a stop in Singapore for their debut headline show on 23rd November at Wire Entertainment, with GOOSE as special guests. Catch the live debut of “Happiness Hurts” in the city where this collaboration began.

“Happiness Hurts” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
