Nick Chou (周汤豪), famously known as NickTheReal, was in Kuala Lumpur last week, following his REALIVE tour in Singapore the week prior. After 7 years, the Taiwanese singer and rapper expressed that he’s been anticipating returning to Malaysia.

“I really miss Malaysia. When I was here 7 years ago, no one knew me. Still, people came out to support me. So thank you for that,” the 35-year-old told the crowd in Zepp Kuala Lumpur before adding that “Malaysian fans are always high and energetic”.

From uptempo performances (“Get Real”, “Turn Up”) to slick dance moves, the atmosphere in Zepp KL was a party and good vibes all around. Nick admitted that the high intense dance performances was necessary, especially after eating multiple plates of chicken rice. As seen in the video (below), Nick took time off to explore KLCC, ate at Lot10, explored BookXcess in RexKL, and checked out some automobile as well as fashion outlets.

However, when it came time for the REALIVE concert, NickTheReal brought his A-game to the stage. In addition to showcasing his spitfire rap skills on “I’m The Man” (fans would recognise this from his stint on ‘The Rap of China’), the performer also introduced a brand new mid-tempo track titled “I Know I Can” – a song that is based on his personal experience dealing with hardship.

At any given concert, things are going to get sweaty. It doesn’t help that the humidity in Kuala Lumpur has been insane. Soon after Nick commented how hot it was in KL, fans were shouting in unison, “Take it off” – telling him to strip shirtless. Sorry ladies, but our Malaysian law forbids abs revealing of any sort. Having said that, Nick did throw some hand towels to the front crowd after wiping it with his sweat.

If that wasn’t enough, a male fan infront was even bold enough to request for his sweaty undies! Taken aback, Nick replied, “C’mon bro, don’t do that.” The hunky performer went on to add, “I’ll admit, I did went backstage to change my underwear. I’m keeping it real y’all. Gotta keep it fresh for the ladies.” Whether it was TMI or not, we like that Nick was comfortable enough to get candid with the local audience.

Another highlight was when Nick tried to pronounce “Satu, Dua, Tiga” (1, 2, 3 in Malay). “Samu, Dua, Tida?” he asked. While that was a struggle, he did successfully declare “Aku Cinta Padamu” (I love you) to his Malaysian fans.
