Some shoes are made to launch you sky high or add a pep to your step. On the other hand (or foot), there are crazy sexy kicks, like these, which look really out there, but will keep you well-grounded.
From exceptional sneakers that give off that grassy allure, to crazy shoes that redefine the norm, here are two shoe drops you should really get to know.
Gramicci x KEEN Jasper Zionic
Gramicci and KEEN are no strangers to strange coincidences. Both companies were created in California; both were based in Japan before moving their headquarters to Portland, and both have been focussing on creating exceptional outdoor equipment. It was only a matter of time when a match was made in heaven for them to come together and deliver us some exquisite outdoor gear.
Of course, with these two companies’ shared roots, it was only right that they make an outdoor shoe that is perfect for the occasion. To commemorate this perfect union, they’re taking the iconic Jasper Zionic and giving it a more down-to-earth look.
Arriving in “Gothic Olive/Black” and “Sorrel Horse/Black” colourways, the Gramicci x KEEN Jasper Zionic wears its earthiness on its metaphorical sleeve, as it features an ultra-hairy suede upper for that grassy aesthetic.
To seal the deal that the two have collaborated on, the side of the shoe features the KEEN logo stitched to its side while the Gramicci brand is on its tongue. The shoe is also accented by Gramicci’s signature zig zag stitched pattern.
This water-proof trainer is outfitted with an extra-thick rubber sole with exaggerated notches and moulded lines for unparalleled grip for those rocky or slippery terrain. The shoe features a braided shoelace for that additional ruggedness and durability.
The Gramicci x KEEN Jasper Zionic is available now via Gramicci and KEEN’s webstores for $170 (~RM738).
Salehe Bembury x CROCS Pollex Cypress Boot
From the classic CROCS design we all know and love to subtle but still striking slippers, this American footwear company has been trying its hands on a plethora of designs and styles while retaining its whimsical look. However, its recent collaboration with Salehe Bembury is sure to set it a cut above the rest. First things first, the Cypress Boot takes the iconic CROCS silhouette and expands upon it, literally. By adding an elongated canvas upper with shoelace, you can now finally tie down your crocs snuggly to your feet. Not only does this secure the footwear tightly to the person, but it also provides excellent ankle protection from any rolls and slips.
It wouldn’t be an outdoor shoe without the accompanying exaggerated rubber sole, featuring a creatively abstract lining for exceptional grip on both muddy and rocky terrain. And of course, it’s not CROCS footwear if it didn’t have that iconic rubber body that now wraps around your feet. Notably, it features distinct lines running from the canvas upper to the rubber sole. And between those said lines are indentations where the holes found in a typical CROCS shoe should be. These holes are now covered up to make it more appropriate outdoor gear.
Salehe Bembury x CROCS Pollex Cypress Boot are rumoured to drop within the year, if not early next year, so keep your eyes peeled for this game-changing sneaker.
