Badminton has always been Malaysia’s number one sport. Thanks to Dato Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia has been dominating the international badminton arena for a number of years now. This has inspired many Malaysians to pursue badminton as a career as well – and one of them is none other than Kisona Selvaduray.

So when fans heard the news that the national women’s singles player decided to leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), many were sincerely heartbroken. Kisona Selvaduray has done so much for the country – the 2013 Asian Youth Games was one example of that.

Yesterday (19th December), the athlete announced to the public on her Instagram page that she has officially left the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). According to Astro Awani, the pro badminton player is looking to focus on her leg recovery and requires a more flexible schedule to continue her career in badminton.

“I’m looking to focus on [recovering from] my injuries. I’ll come back as an independent professional player soon. Nothing will stop me from serving the country as a badminton player. I’ll definitely come back to court after my recovery,” she wrote in the captions. She even thanked every one of those who have helped her through her journey.
