As Ramadan returns and Hari Raya quickly approaches, many local malls have gone all out with their mall decor. Earlier this year, many malls amazed netizens with their auspicious dragon-themed decorations for Chinese New Year – so netizens were expecting to see some equally beautiful Raya mall decorations.
One of the malls that has received netizens’ approval so far is The Exchange TRX and its kampung house-inspired decor. Twitter user Hazmi recently shared several photos of the decor, which evokes a village vibe thanks to the traditional wooden house and surrounding flora. The Twitter user also shared the interior of the structure, revealing that it is well-decorated to fit the overall kampung theme, with wooden sofas and rattan lamps.
The exterior elements also feature batik motifs on some flowers and the many wau bulan. Many netizens said The Exchange TRX’s Raya decor is their favourite by far, even quipping that other malls in Kuala Lumpur should use the mall as an example. Several TikTok users have also shared videos of the traditional house structure at the mall’s centre concourse, attracting more praise for The Exchange TRX and those involved in the Raya mall decor.
Another mall that has been receiving praise for its 2024 Raya decoration is Nu Sentral. Many netizens have shared their cat-themed decor featuring multiple cat statues displayed at the centre concourse and the mall entrances. Some of the fluffy figures even don traditional Malay attire like Baju Melayu and Songkok. Netizens love the adorable decor, saying the cats add a creative twist to the holiday. Some even joked that Nu Sentral knows how to attract cat lovers into their malls, while others say they’re tempted to bring their cats to check out the decor.
