The Year of the Dragon has dawned and as always, malls in the Klang Valley are gearing up to bedazzle their visitors! Well, as it turns out, Sunway Pyramid is apparently the strongest contender to win this year’s Chinese New Year mall decorations and these netizens are pretty convincing!
On 7th January, Facebook group Malaysia Shopping Mall started a debate among netizens when they queried: “Which mall’s dragon deco (is the) best? Admin wants to go take picture and ride them.” Well, netizens flooded the comments with their picks, and we can certainly see why they made the cut!
“Sunway Pyramid 100% wins this year’s best deco. Took this photo with my 7-year-old phone and it still looks freaking amazing,” a netizen gushed. The photo showed a giant golden dragon suspended in mid-air and hovering over what looks like a temple. Sunway Pyramid’s decorations also garnered praise from several others who offered different angles of the dragon.
Another strong contender was two dragons frolicking in a water fountain before meeting face-to-face at the front of the fountain. The netizen claimed they had taken a photo of these twin dragons outside the Lalaport BBCC mall.
Someone else claimed Berjaya Times Square did have a dragon, but they were still in the process of getting their decorations up, hence the lack of photos. One also commented: “Sunway Velocity’s (is) almost up… But for me, the deco is messy. So many dragons there.” The netizen added that their Christmas decorations had been equally as messy.
Well, so far, the comments seems torn between Sunway Pyramid’s and Lalaport’s. There was an attempt at suggesting Setia Alam’s decorations which featured a huge jade dragon resting on a green dome, but so far, it hasn’t received much support.
Still, we’re sure more malls will be finishing their decorations soon and hopefully, they’ll be dazzling and befitting of the Year of the Dragon.
