Netizens Furious At Malaysian Woman For Outing Sister As A Lesbian

Many in the LGBTQ+ community have spent most, if not all their lives in the closet out of fear that they’d be ostracised or even criminalised for their sexual or gender identity. Many have also expressed the fear of being disowned by their own family if they were to come out or be outed by someone.

Netizens werre enraged after this local woman revealed that she had outed her possibly queer sister to her family. Here’s what happened:

SOURCE: TWITTER

Over the weekend, an anonymous Twitter user submitted a confession to the Keeper of Malaysian Secrets page where they detailed how they suspected that their older sister may be a lesbian. In her submission, the user explained that she found out about it after looking up her sister’s secret Twitter account. She added that there were photos of her sister being suspiciously “intimate” with a friend; holding hands and cuddling.

“My sister is in love with my former secondary school classmate. Why is she like this? I feel so disgusted just looking at her,” she wrote. The anonymous netizen revealed that her sister, who was unaware of her secret being discovered, asked if there was something troubling her after noticing she was avoiding her. Unfortunately, their relationship became worse after the unnamed netizen outed the sister to their mother.

“I just couldn’t accept it. Now our mom knows. She even broke down to the point where she developed a fever. I only told her after she confronted me for not talking to my sister,” she said. The submission quickly went viral with netizens being furious over the fact that the anonymous user outed her sister without properly talking things over with her.

Many called the user out for her homophobia and hypocrisy while others said she shouldn’t have pried into her sibling’s life. Some slammed the author for immediately assuming her sister’s sexuality after a glance through her “suspicious activities” on her alternative social media account.

Unfortunately, there has been no follow-up to this story so there is currently no information on how the family or the outed sister is doing. We sure hope that they get to talk things out and mend their relationship after this incident.
