Hunters, are you ready for the “takedown”? According to Bloomberg, Netflix is reportedly planning a “KPop Demon Hunters” world tour, featuring performances of the songs from the film. The proposed tour could span dozens of major cities, with arena shows designed for 10,000 to 20,000 fans.
Netflix is yet to choose a concert promoter, but has reportedly received offers of “tens of millions of dollars” in upfront payments. The tour is aimed to launch around the globe next year ahead of the highly anticipated sequel to the film. However, it’s currently unclear who will take the stage if the tour goes ahead.
“KPop Demon Hunters” features songs by the groups HUNTR/X and Saja Boys, the latter of which stars Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Remi Ami. Discussions to bring the real-life HUNTR/X on tour are under planning, as Netflix is also considering using virtual performers, such as holograms.
Since its premiere in June last year, the film has amassed more than 500 million views on Netflix, making it the most-watched title ever on the platform. HUNTR/X have also made history as the first K-pop girl band to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and their song “Golden” is the first K-pop song to ever win a Grammy Award.
From the fizzy confection “Soda Pop” to fierce girl crush anthem “Takedown”, the film soundtrack was produced by musicians from The Black Label, founded by Blackpink producer Teddy Park, and features songwriters behind BTS hits. It also features acts such as Twice, MeloMance, and Jokers, as well as songs from the film.
